I made these felt picture books because i have little ones that cant read yet and are so very hard on childrens books often ripping the pages out and destroying the books. I decided it would be great to make them soft fabric books that they could not so easily destroy. What was great about these is since there are no words for me to have to read to my daughter she started to use her imagination and would read these books to me and create her own story. I made these awhile ago so i did not think to take step by step photos for explanation however these are super simple...
Items Needed:
Felt
any fabric with pictures on it that you know your child would enjoy.
sizors
sewing machine (or you can hand sew these as well)
some good thick decrative ribbon to bind your book with
Intructions
cut the felt into the size of pages you desire and amount of pages as well leavind about an inch in mind for the binding. cut out your fabric pictures and place them on your pages were you like them best then sew thim on around the edges with a zig zag stitch. for the cover you can simple sew a picture on it or write with fabric markers or paint the name of the book or like i did you can stitch it on there as well. then sew your pages toger page one to page 2 and page 3 to page 4 and so on and so forth and then place a small peice on ribbon on the binding area of your book one end on the cover and the other on the back and sew straight through the ribon and the book a few times and do about 3 or 4 peices of ribbon like this down your binding depending on the size you chose to make your book and then your done. whoohoo.
Please contact me if you make one and take pictures i would love to see how creative others can make theres and post them here on the blog.
